A severe storm has disrupted service in the DTE Energy service area
158,000 customers have been restored
158,000 Power Problems
Fully Restored

Key Points:

  • DTE Energy has restored most of the 158,000 customers who lost electric service Saturday due to sustained, strong winds and heavy rain that knocked down trees and power lines throughout southeast Michigan.
  • Wind gusts of more than 40 miles per hour caused reports of numerous downed power lines across DTE’s Southeast Michigan service area.

Safety Messages:

  • Customers should stay at least 20 feet away of all power lines and anything they’re in contact with, and consider them live. They are extremely dangerous. Customers also should heed the warning of yellow caution tape, which indicates there is a downed power line in the area. DO NOT CROSS YELLOW CAUTION TAPE.
  • Customers can report an outage, check on the status of an outage and view an outage map from their smart phones. Customers also may call DTE Energy at (800) 477-4747 to report power outages or downed lines.

  • DTE encourages customers to use the mobile website at dteenergy.com or their iPhone or Android phone to report a power problem using the DTE Energy Outage Center app. The app is available free of charge from the Apple Store or Google Play.

Restoration Process:

  • Line crews, including nearly 200 linemen from neighboring utilities who joined the restoration effort earlier, will continue working 16-hour shifts to restore the remaining outages as quickly as possible.

  • All customers who lost power in the storm should have service restored some time Tuesday..

We understand how difficult it is to be without power, and appreciate the patience of customers as we work on repairing the damage caused by the storm.
